About the Project

The exciting Making Places initiative was launched in 2017 to encourage communities to actively contribute to the renewal of their local areas. Woodside Making Places was launched to bring physical and environmental improvements to this neighbourhood.

This ambitious vision for Woodside Making Places will transform the streets, green-spaces, play areas and courtyards of Woodside; creating an attractive, multi-functional green infrastructure network with a strong sense of place. The project will integrate cycle routes, biodiverse habitats, sustainable rainwater drainage, vibrant doorstep play and edible landscapes.  This will be informed by engagement in the local community, to guide design decisions and ensure needs are identified and met.

This project as happening in parallel with Connecting Woodside, which will create major new cycle routes through Woodside and to the city centre. Woodside Making Places is funded by Queens Cross Housing Association, from funds earmarked for landscape and environmental improvements. Sustrans are also contributing to the project through their Places for Everyone programme, which is funded by Transport Scotland.

An introductory consultation event was held with the local community on Saturday 18th January at Windsor Hall, Woodside.
