Frequently Asked Questions

When is the project going to be built?

We expect to commence construction works on Phase 1 from September 2022 onwards.

How is the project being funded?

Woodside Making Places is funded by Queens Cross Housing Association, from funds earmarked for landscape and environmental improvements. Sustrans are also contributing to the project through their Places for Everyone programme, which is funded by Transport Scotland.

Can this money be spent on other priorities in the area instead?

The project budget is ring-fenced for landscape works to make environmental improvements to the Woodside area; this fund can not be diverted towards other issues or projects based on recommendations through the Woodside Making Places website.

What if I have an issue with my property, can you help?

If you would like to discuss your property or make a complaint about your home, please visit Queens Cross Housing Association website and submit your concerns via the online form. These cannot be addressed through the Woodside Making Places website.

How will the COVID19 pandemic affect the project?

The project design and planning has been progressing over the lockdown period. The challenge of consulting through online methods has had to be addressed, which has prolonged the consultation period and we have moved to a primarily online format through this website. The anticipated start date for construction work has moved from November 2020 to the start of 2022.

What about anti-social behaviour?

We will be consulting with Police Scotland and records of locations where antisocial behaviour occurs will inform our design proposals. Improved visibility and street lighting will be proposed to discourage anti-social behaviour spots.

How will the the project be maintained?

Following completion of building works, the contractor will be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of new landscape around Woodside. After this period has concluded, QCHA or their agents will look after the areas based on a maintenance plan drawn up by the Woodside Making Places team. We will take pains to ensure that the maintenance burden is kept as low as possible and reflects realistic expectations of future resourcing.

Are you reducing car parking?

Parking spaces will be kept except where new pedestrian crossings and raingardens are proposed; the total number of spaces will not be significantly reduced.
